Abbo's Alley A Tennessee garden I love...

March has almost arrived and it brings back many lovely memories of my springs spent in Sewanee, TN. Though I am originally from Mississippi I have no problem calling Tennessee home.  For over a decade I hiked (over 6000 miles), strolled and soaked in every inch of the 15,000 acres of ground that I could cover.  Today's art is reminiscent of the beauty that lives in my thoughts.
Today I decided to shift gears, to go with the flow and see what happened.  There are so many distractions in life and constant reminders of all that is going on around us.
To counter this bombardment I encourage you to get outdoors, be creative and remind yourself of the positive aspects of life~anything that reminds you of God's beauty~anything special to your heart~artistic, outdoorsy, airy and light!  It helps make negativity and unhappiness meltaway. Let spring into your heart.

A Few Of My Favorite Things

On this cold winter day, I reflect on the past month of travel and studying that I have done in my Organizational Leadership program.  Surrounding myself with things that I enjoy looking at helps me cope with the extreme cold, fewer opportunities to get outdoors and large amounts of snow that we've had over the last week and a half.
After a month of travel south, to Florida, then west for a nice mix of weather and sights in Colorado, being back on campus  in Beckley, West Virginia is a bit of a challenge.  Snow continues to fall and accumulate with nearly two feet or more now on the ground.  It is a beautiful sight but extremely low temperatures and dangerous roads make getting outside treacherous.  I long for spring.  https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10153068035496215

When It Blooms.......

After a quick trip to Tennessee I was inspired to work on this piece of art today.  "When It Blooms", was inspired by a group of flowers that had emerged in the crack of my in-laws driveway.  They were beautiful and soft pink as I observed them up close. They deserved to be inspiration for a piece of art after emerging and surviving in a driveway crack! I am happy to have another piece of artwork completed for my show.  https://www.etsy.com/listing/199041969/art-a-flower-in-hot-pink-and-pops-of

Bachelor Button Fantasy

After admiring the bachelor buttons this summer along the roadsides and on the trails where I have roamed, I decided to try my hand at this piece.  I am " kinda" fond of it!  I like bachelor buttons!

Flying things....

A flying bug that was almost "goldish"- cooper, iridescent when the light hit it and it  looked like a cross between a fly and a bee, was the inspiration for this piece.  It is in a small 8x8 inch format.
